Greetings from the Mayor of Simi Valley

As Mayor of Simi Valley, it gives me great pleasure to introduce the 2004 Simi Valley Film & Locations Guide. For more than 60 years Simi Valley has played a significant role in the Southern California Film Industry. Today, our rugged mountain vistas, picturesque streets, expansive Movie Ranches, and a film-friendly community ensure that our area will continue to thrive as a destination for film production. As you will see in this Guide, we offer an impressive array of filming locations, production facilities, and a one-stop permitting process that will make your decision to film here, in “The Zone”, a simple one.

The past year has brought many challenges to the film industry and the economy, which is why the City of Simi Valley strives, along with our City, County and State film offices, to keep the Southern California Film Industry healthy, vital and local. Our long-term relationship with the Film Industry wouldn’t be possible without the help and hospitality of the residents and businesses in our great community. I invite you to browse through the 2004 Film & Locations Guide and then come visit Simi Valley. Your next location-filming decision just got a little easier.

Sincerely,

Mayor Bill Davis

Greetings from the Film Council Chair

“Simi Rocks, Camera Roll!” Simi Valley has a long and rich history of filming evolving over the last 70 years. The city and area surrounding Simi Valley has provided backdrops and locations for hundreds of theatrical films, television commercials and print media advertising shoots. In 1999, a group of us, with the support and assistance of The Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce, established our Film Council. The Film Council reports to The Chamber’s Business Development Committee and with the support of this group, the Film Council is able to bring together the business sector, city government and private sector, to support the Council in it’s effort to make Simi Valley the most film friendly city.

For the past two years we have sponsored a FAM (Familiarization) Tour for the industry location managers, as well as directors and studio representatives. Also, we have been accepted into the prestigious AFCI (Association of Film Commissioners International) with full privileges. Simi Valley has each year attended the Locations Trade Show in Santa Monica. Our city has developed a one stop does all permit process. Last, but not least, Simi Valley is in the Zone, the only city in Ventura County that has this distinction.

The City of Simi Valley and The Chamber of Commerce invite you to experience the friendly, small town atmosphere our town offers and see why the industry has allowed our city to host their projects for the past 70 years.

Best Regards,

Dallas G. Knox
